THE NIGHTMARES

Today I am writing about nightmares. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, ''nightmare is a very upsetting or frightening dream.'' It's also ''an extremely unpleasant event or experience or possible event or experience.'' We all have or had nightmares in our life which is normal. But I am not talking about the normal nightmares. I am talking about the nightmares that all rape victims have after they are being raped. As the ratio of rape victims is more in women than men, therefore; I am going to write it based on women.

No one thinks about that. People think that it is over when the rapist is being punished. No, it doesn’t work like that. It’s not that simple. A rape victim doesn’t have a normal life after that trauma. They don’t sleep normally after that horrible incident occurs to them. They have the nightmare of being raped most of the nights of their life till they die. You might be thinking about how I know all this!! Believe it or not, this is a fact, and I know that.
However, rape victims don’t have a normal and happy relationship after that, because they suffer from trust issues. They hate every touch after that. They feel every touch as bad touch. Seeing psychiatrists may help them not to kill themselves, but they never live their lives like before. You have no idea how life changes after that. Despite being the victims, not the criminals, they are the ones who are deprived of their family and society. It seems like it is a big crime they have committed by being raped.

Today I will describe some true events of a rape victim. Suppose her name is Mahek, she is a Bangladeshi girl. She is a rape victim. For the concern of her security, I am not going to the detail about how she was raped. I will only share with you how she is passing her life after the incident. After staying a few days in the hospital after that incident, when she decided to act against them, she had to run away from those criminals so that they cannot kill her to shut her mouth up. She is now far away from the criminals, but her family members are facing numerous threats. She has nightmares every night. Her psychiatrist has given her anti-depressants and sleeping pills. Medicines only help her sleep well but cannot stop the nightmare. The same nightmare almost every night. How her rapist pressed her mouth with his hand so that she could not shout. She was asleep when that human-faced monster got that chance to do it. Since then she thinks every night that she might not have been raped if she wasn’t asleep that day. Therefore, she is afraid of sleeping now. She developed insomnia. Her doctors and psychiatrist are helping her to move on, but what about the nightmares that remind her every day of what she had been through? She has the nightmare of being chased. She tries to save her life by running away in her dream and then wakes up shaken and scared, and then cannot go back to sleep again. Do you still think that rape victims have a normal happy life after that? No, they don’t. So, today all I want to say is, people who are helping the rapists to get away with such a horrible crime, should think 100 times before doing that. Just think about your own sisters and daughters. Could you do the same if Mahek were your sister or daughter??

Moreover, my request to society is to show some respect and generosity to the victims. They don’t want your sympathy. They don’t want you to feel pity for them. Besides, don’t think that just because someone is raped once, therefore they are available to be abused and raped again. Stop giving them everyday nightmares when they are not even sleeping.

Women's Rights In Bangladesh

Women's rights in Bangladesh are like a myth. It only exists in documents and in the words of some specific people, but you will rarely find that in real. According to World Report 2009: Bangladesh, ''Discrimination against women is common in both public and private spheres. There are few women in decision-making positions and women generally are paid lower wages than men. Maternal mortality rates remain extremely high, despite significant improvements over the past 20 years. Domestic violence is a daily reality for many women and dowry-related crimes are reported to increase.'' It's true that Bangladesh is a developing country and things are changing day by day, but the changes are in GDP (Gross Domestic Product) only. Women and women's rights will only be practised in Bangladesh if there is a revolution. Till then R. I. P. Women's Rights of Bangladesh.

FEMINISM

Today I will write about feminism just to share my thoughts about it. What I think about feminism, what other people described it, and how it has been taken by the male chauvinist society.  According to the Oxford Dictionary definition, Feminism is ''The advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.'' Some feminist writers think that acting like men and doing everything like men is feminism. No, it’s not. You don’t need to cut your beautiful long hair in short like men just to prove that you are a feminist. Doing all the bad things that bad men do is also not feminism. It's about equal rights. I think there should not be any women's rights issues. We must talk about only human rights.

We, both men and women are human beings. If there is no men's rights issue, there should not be any issue about women's rights too. I don't support begging for my rights. I must have the same rights as men have from the day we are born. I don't want the women to beg for their comforts and others. We have the same rights, then why the women need to demand or beg for it??

However, I don't think peeing in public like men is feminism. In fact, peeing in public is not allowed for men too. If men are doing nasty and illegal things, doing the same bad things will not make you right and will not give you the taste of equality. It is like committing the same crime by following a criminal to be the same level of criminal. It really doesn't make any sense. Therefore, when you are talking about feminism, please don't ask for equal rights for peeing in public or being nude in public, as both acts are prohibited. Feminism describes the equality of all sexes. All we need to do is to think and focus on Human Rights without any sort of discrimination.

SPEAK UP

Speak up! Yes, we need to speak up, otherwise, we will be oppressed forever by male chauvinism. They want us shut. They want us to be their puppet so that they can do whatever they want. So, speak up. Something you don't like? Speak up! Someone you love or hate? Speak up! If you keep your mouth shut then they will think that you are loving what they are doing to you. So, speak up! Do you want to cry out loudly? Then do it. If anyone says you something, you just speak up! Do you want to laugh with the loud sound possible? Laugh! Don't care what they are thinking about you. It's your mouth, your teeth, you can do whatever you want. If you are told not to laugh with sound, then just speak up! It's now or never!!!

YOU ARE A WOMAN!

If you were born as a woman in a country like Bangladesh then you must be familiar with some rules, or obligations, such as; don't do this, you cannot do this, you are not allowed to do this or that. If you ever questioned 'why' then you must have answered by saying 'You are a woman!' It starts from the day you start to understand the commands of others. Your entire life will be passing with full of 'don'ts' can't, shouldn't, etc. The male figure around you or the society will always guide you saying where to go and where not to. If you ever dare to go somewhere you were not supposed to do, you will be told that 'you shouldn't be here, this place is not for you, 'you are a woman!' I was often told by some people not to walk with making sounds, because? 'you are a woman!'

I was told that a woman should walk slowly and softly. The character of a woman should be like clay so that she can be given a posture the way the male figure wants. A woman should not have her own choice to do anything. I have a bad habit of not abiding by some things that I don't believe. If you also have a habit like me then you might have been forced to get married to a guy, you never met before. They don't care if you were raped every night by your husband as you could not love an unknown person so quickly. According to them, your husband has every right to do whatever he wants to do with you. He can even beat you up if you become disobedient. You might have been thinking that why do you have to tolerate all this? The answer is 'You are a woman!' If you have been raped by some stranger or someone from your family. They will blame you for that. As if it was you who eagerly wanted to be raped. Some of them with good hearts will sympathise with your situation but will always avoid your presence. As if you are someone with some contagious disease. It will be you who will always have to fight to prove that you were raped, because? 'you are a woman!'

Consequently, when you will pass through all the trauma, you will be given another surprise being told that you are not marriage material anymore for someone you may love because you are not a virgin and after being raped you have become nasty. You will have to wait till someone comes forward and tells you that he does not have a problem marrying you. If you wonder, why he is so generous with you while others are not then he might tell you that he has sympathy for you. If you believe him and go for it then sooner, you will find the reason for him to choose to marry you. Yes! he has got some problems; therefore, he was rejected by all the women he tried with. Then he thought to marry someone who has been rejected by society already. And then he has got you. If you think otherwise, then you will know that if it was a man, not you then he would have been applauded saying to celebrate to become a real man after losing his virginity. Why? because 'you are a woman!'

I have learnt that I don't have any say in being a woman. We, women, are like puppets that also breathe. And we must be thankful to them that they at least allowed us to breathe. Do you really want to know Why? because 'you are a woman!'

YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF

To all the readers. I am so sorry to remove the comment option from my blog. I never thought of reading such bad comments in my whole life. I write what I believe or think. It's my opinion or thought. You are not bound to read it or like it. If you like it then it's great, but if you don't then just mind your own fu***** business. Stop writing nasty comments, and stop spreading hatred. I am not bound to write what you people think. It's called freedom of speech. You are also free to give your own opinion like a gentleman not abusing verbally. Sometimes I really think about you people and about your upbringing. I am sure that your parents are ashamed of you and you should be ashamed of yourself!!!!
